Australian TV Programme warns of the dangers associated with Mobile Phone use:

On the 28th April, the Australian TV current affairs programme "Today Tonight" warned of the dangers of not only using mobile phones, and also wearing them on the body.  They  tested several different mobile phones and found some to be well over the official safety standards. Dr Bruce Armstrong, Professor for Public Health at Sydney University featured in the programme, and stated that he genuinely believes that the risk of increased tumours from mobile phone usage is very real. He speaks from a position of some authority as he is currently running the Australian arm of the international INTERPHONE project. Neurosurgeon warns of Brain Cancer fears with heavy mobile phone use:

March 31, 2008:  Dr Vini Khurana, a leading Australian Brain Surgeon, has warned that heavy mobile phone use may pose a greater threat to our health than either smoking or asbestos.  He has called for immediate and decisive steps by both government and industry to reduce people's exposure to the invisible electromagnetic radiation emitted by the handsets.  He said mobile phone radiation could heat the side of the head, or potentially thermoelectrically interact with the brain, while Bluetooth devices and "unshielded" headsets could "convert the user's head into an effective, potentially self-harming antenna".  For the full story as reported in the Sydney Morning Herald, please click here . German Government warns against WiFi and mobile phone Use: 9 September, 2007:

The German government advised their citizens to avoid using Wi-Fi wherever possible, because of the risks it may pose to health.  The Environment Ministry recommended that people should keep their exposure to radiation from Wi-Fi “as low as possible” by choosing “conventional wired connections”.  Germany’s Federal Office for Radiation Protection also advised it’s citizens to use landlines instead of mobile phones, and warned of ‘electrosmog’ from a wide range of everyday products.   (As reported by Geoffrey Lean, Environment Editor, The Independent, UK, 9 Sept 2007.)

French Government warn against mobile phone use:

In January, 2008, the French Government joined in.  They warned their citizens to avoid “excessive” mobile phone use because of concerns that it can increase the risk of some cancers.  Their statement included reference to their particular concern that children face the most danger

UK official warning about danger to children of mobile phone use:

12 January, 2005: Sir William Stewart, UK’s official health protection watchdog, advised that children under the age of eight should not use mobile phones, and that parents of children aged between 8 and 14 had to make their own judgements about the risks and benefits.

European Union warns about health effects of mobile telecommunications:

The EU’s European Environment Agency’s Director said on 16th September 2007 “Recent research and review on the long-term effects of radiations from mobile telecommunications suggest that it would be prudent for health authorities to recommend actions to reduce exposures, especially to vulnerable groups, such as children.”
