Mould
Most people don’t give mould a second thought. They may think about it looking or smelling unpleasant – but most resign themselves to living with it without a second thought. However, mould is far more serious a condition that we’ve been taught.
Mould in the house can be behind many everyday and persistent health issues. Mould will start almost anywhere if it’s moist enough, and has the
right temperature and material to grown on. Typical causes of mould
are floods, leaks and humidity.
People who are exposed to high, or consistent, levels of mould can become sensitized and go on to develop allergies.
Those who are most vulnerable to being affected by mould are infants
and children, the elderly, those who are already unwell or frail, and
anyone with immune system disorders.
There are a variety of moulds. Some cause minor responses and effects,
whilst others can be very toxic and cause more serious health problems.
Here just some of the health concerns that are linked to exposure to Mould:
• breathing problems
• fatigue
• skin problems
• flu-like symptoms
• recurrent colds and illness
• immune suppression
• allergies
Becoming aware of the issues around mould, and clearing it from the
house has led to marked improvement from symptoms and recovery of
health in many cases.
