SIDSSIDS: Crib / Cot Death

Did you know a research study has found a 100% effective way to prevent cot death? During that study not one baby died of cot death.*

Like me, you may be shocked that this study never made the mainstream media.

Surprisingly, you rarely see it mentioned by the major cot death prevention groups.

SIDSOne million babies have died of cot death worldwide over the past 40 years.  A scientific study has found a way to prevent this.   And few people are  passing on the information.  Perplexing to say the least.

The results of the study?
Cot death occurs mainly in Western Europe, North America and Australasia.
It is the result of environmental pollution.
It is preventable.
The methods are simple

How it works:
Gases are generated from the mattress.
These gases combine with a common household fungus
Together they form a potent neurotoxin: nerve gas
This gas has little or no odour.
The gas affects the baby’s nervous system.  Breathing stops, so does the heart

SIDS The simple solution:
Choose a mattress known to be free from phosphorous, arsenic and antimony.
If you’re not sure (as many are not labeled)
–    wrap the mattress in thick Polyethylene sheeting (not PVC)
–    or buy a BabeSafe slip-on mattress cover

Sheepskins often contain Arsenic.  50% of cases of cot death in New Zealand occurred whilst babies were sleeping on sheepskins – so please avoid using
 these

The study to test the effectiveness of mattress-wrapping was carried out in New Zealand in 1995 by Dr Jim Sportt.  It was carried out to test the theory
about toxic gases in cot mattresses, published by Dr B A Richardson in the UK, 1989.
